Chateau chamomix
The staff was great but I would request a higher condo because we were next to a stack of snow. The condo itself could be updated.
Chateau Chamonix meets expectations
Great people and service. Al is particularly friendly and helpful. The facility itself is dated and our condo was a bit out of date too. We had a broken steam shower and no effort was made to fix it during our stay. Otherwise, our stay was comfy and met, but did not exceed, our expectations.
Al, the host, is the BEST!
The Chateau Chamonix did not disappoint! In fact, it exceeded our expectations. When we arrived, the host ("Al") came outside to greet us. Yes, he actually came out from behind the front desk and asked how our drive was then invited us on a personal tour. Granted the Christmas crowd had not arrived yet, so he wasn't as busy. Al took us around to show us the pools, boot room, where to store our skis and where to get complimentary coffee/cocoa. AFTER the tour, then he helped us get checked in. But that wasn't it... Al then helped us get our luggage and walked us to our 3rd floor condo and showed us all the other amenities. The service here is absolutely amazing! We stayed at the Chateau Chamonix for 5 nights. We never met the housekeeping staff, but they did a great job of making sure the condo was in perfect order before we stepped in. They also changed out the towels mid-week. They didn't disturb us or come in while we were there. The ski-in and ski-out was better than we expected. We didn't have a slope side condo on the first floor that walked right out into the snow. So the people that think this place is not a ski in/out place need to relax. Their heated boot room is literally 20 steps or less to the snow. The ski racks sit outside and are only about 2 steps from the snow. Snap in and go right down to the gondola. When you are done skiing, head down the Stampede run and you will come right back to the same spot you left. The only walking we had to do was from our condo to the boot room. But this isn't bad at all since we walk in our normal shoes (not ski boots). My wife and family were very happy with this place. My wife said that they only thing that would make this place 100% perfect is if our back deck view would have had a mountain view. We are already thinking about coming back to Steamboat next year and stay in the Chateau Chamonix. We have never stayed in the same place twice when we vacation. This place may be the first.
Our stay
Really enjoyed Chateau Chamonix. Everyone there very helpful and great!
Beautiful condo unit
Out unit was very well appointed, luxurious and the staff, particularly Alan, was very friendly. The hot tubs and pool were small but very close to our unit so quite handy for quick fun after skiing. Unit 132 was truly exactly what we hoped, luxurious, spacious, ski in ski out, w/d in unit, ample covered parking, decor.
Great location, friendly staff.
This lodge sits about 300 yards UP on the hill which makes it a true ski in and ski out. Each afternoon we enjoyed Apres at Slopeside Grill and then hit the Christie chair to the mid point and skied the short route back to the Chateaux. Al, the ski concierge is a great guy and takes pride in hos job. The front desk staff is also polite and helpful. Free coffee and donuts is a nice plus. The only less than perfect thing to mention is that there are 3 buildings...We were in building 3 so we had to walk across a parking lot to get to our place. Not a big deal but I could see how some folks would complain. Buildings 1 and 2 are DIRECTLY on the slopes.
