The overwhelming majority of the Grindelwald dining scene is to be had in hotel restaurants. At the top of that list, you’ll find the upscale Restaurant Belevedere on Dorfstrasse. This elegant establishment serves up traditional Swiss favorites, as well as variety of popular European fare. The Restaurant Belevedere also provides guests with one of the best views of the Eiger out of Grindelwald’s restaruants.
If you’re looking for a break from hotel dining, C und M Café Bar Restaurant on Almiglassi, provides a refreshing change-up. This romantic stand-alone restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is renowned as one of the areas best places to enjoy au gratin cuisine. If you’re in the mood for some comfort food after a challenging day on the slopes—or you have a clan of ducklings in tow—head to Onkel Tom’s Hutte for Grindelwald’s best pizza.
Grindelwald’s First area offers several exceptional options, all accessible from all the chairlifts in this zone. You can find just about every on-mountain dining preference from sit-down to serve yourself cafeteria-style. If you’re looking for something a little quieter, head to Waldspitz, which is accessed from Oberjoch chairlift. This quaint chalet offers a small bar and a simple, but great menu. And if you’re looking for a mid-afternoon beer or glass of wine with a view stop in at the Wetterhorn’s restaurant-bar. You can ski back down to Grindelwald proper from here if snow conditions allow, or hop on a bus.
