A charming, resort-based village in the Austrian Tyrol, Igls is a sought after outdoor destination that features tons of incredible scenery, expansive skiing and loads of off-mountain adventure opportunities. In addition to being a popular summer attraction, Igls features great winter amenities with lots of chalet-style options in addition to hotels and modern rentals.
The nearby ski area is Patscherkofel, which also served as the training grounds for legendary skiers Franz Klammer and Herman Maier. What separates Igls is that Patscherkofel is one of, if not the most, family friendly ski resorts in all of Austria. In addition to that, there are plenty of good tree runs, making low-visibility skiing no problem compared to some of its high alpine counterparts. That said, the sunny days are prevalent in this part of the Austrian Tyrol so bring the high SPF.
