Sauze d’Oulx is among one of the largest ski resorts withinthe 440 kilometers (273 miles) of lift-linked Milky Way ski domain. Thischarming medieval village is located in the Val di Susa, at the foot of MonteGenevris, and appeals to families as well as party-goers. Sauze d’Oulx islocated just 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Turin (Torino), making it extremely accessiblefor those flying overseas. The skiing is all things to all people. While Sauzeis largely an intermediate’s dream, as part of the wider Milky Way it offers Olympicdownhill in Sestriere and small-resort charm up the road in Claviere. Sauzed’Oulx was the site of Freestyle skiing events in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Sauze d'Oulx's ski area can be accessed from four differentpoints around the village, all served by chair lifts and linked at resort levelby a ski bus.
Beginners have a village-level “learn to ski” slope at thebase of the Clotes chair, but most of the learning takes place up atmid-mountain Sportina. Intermediates will get the most out of Sauze d’Oulx, aswell as the neighboring Milk Way ski resorts. These include Sestrière's famousslopes and the long reds above down from Fratieve to Sansicario. Expert skierswill find some fun off-piste glades in the lower slopes or in the high-Alpinepowder bowls. There are a variety of off-piste routes which a guide can showyou that descend 1,300 meters (4,265 feet) from the top of Fratieve to thevalley.
