    Snowbird skiing

With the terrain type—beginner at 27 percent, intermediate at 39 percent and expert at 35 percent—divided almost equally into thirds, every skier will find trails perfect for them. Beginners have two designated “learn to ski” areas, one near the base area Snowbird Center, one off of the Baby Thunder Lift, and one just below Mid Gad Lift. Children will absolutely love the Mini Mining Camp located off of the Baby Thunder Lift. Here they’ll learn important balancing skills on the tree trails, and have a blast snaking around the mini camp. Beginner skiers can even enjoy the expansive beauty of Snowbird’s Mineral Basin via the Tram.

Intermediate skiers have ample options from quick laps on Mid Gad or Gad 2 Lifts, to leg-burning runs through Peruvian Gulch and a meandering trail in Mineral Basin that yields spectacular views. Expert powder skiers will think they died and went to heaven since Snowbird receives 500 inches of prime “lake affect” snow, annually. Extreme skiers will find no shortage of chutes, steeps and powder fields to challenge themselves on. The terrain further down the Hidden Valley ridgeline off of Cirque Traverse offers world-class expert skiing from gladed chutes and steeps between Gad Chutes and Wilbere Chutes, to the quick chutes between Upper Cirque and Lower Cirque. Skier’s right side of Peruvian Gulch allows for leg burning, variable conditions sure to get the heart pumping. Mineral Basin has double black chutes, steeps and cliffs which will challenge even extreme skiers.

    January 2019 Trip

We had a great experience at Snowbird, everyone was friendly, the resort was nice, the food was good, and the staff does an excellent job, We had over 3ft of snow while staying there, so that was awesome for skiing, we would definitely go back

    Perfect except the snow

Lodge at Snowbird turned out to be a perfect space for myself ,my partner and adult son. We had one room efficiency (spacious) “sitting room” with full kitchenette, dinning table , (comfortable) pull-out couch and full bath. We also had an adjoining room with a full bath. Everyone had sufficient space and privacy and we could eat breakfast in and hang out together when we wished. We faced the mountain and enjoyed gorgeous vistas! The snow conditions, while not awful, could have been better but we still had a blast:)

Great steep mountain, Alta Also very beautiful

Nothing to do but ski there. Which is fine if you love skiing as the skiing is excellent.

    Skiing at the Bird

We had a great time sking at Snowbird and stay at the Lodge. The folks at the lodge could not have been nicer or more accomodating. The food in the area was terrific and the snow was fantastic...18" of fresh Snowbird powder. Couldn't have been better!

    Skiers mountain

Great Ski destination; all about the skiing, amenities are marginal compared to Vail/PC etc...

    Snowbird

I had a very good late season deal with a 7 day Alta/Snowbird pass,Spa privilege and a nice comfortable room. Snowbird is a group of several lodges owned by a single entity, prices for the same item don't vary. Its only 6 or 8 miles from the mouth of the canyon and 15 miles or so from the urban environment but high prices for restaurants, wine etc seem to suggest it is far more isolated. A good chunk of intermediate and good in bad weather terrain was shutdown during the week and open on weekends. Its most popular runs were primarily black and 3000 ft top to bottom with the lower half having sticky (moist) snow during warm weather. During the same time period and elevation the snow at Alta was much better and terrain more interesting and versatile.

    WOW

It's true what they say about the famous Utah powder. Light, dry, and lots of it. Lots of snow and the terrain was vast and diverse. Rolling trails or steep open bowls. Amazing views all around. I can't wait to get back there. It's very accessible from the Salt Lake airport, less than an hour.

Snowbird is a great place to stay and ski

Snowbird is the best place to stay and ski, as you have access to it and can either ski or bus over to Alta, which has the absolute best powder on earth. The Lodge at Snowbird is very convenient and friendly. I have stayed there 10 times and nothing else compares with it! The welcome wine and cheese is great, and the lobby fireplace is welcoming. THe rooms are huge, with two sinks, small refrigerator, a fantastic view of the mountain, and more closet space than even I know what to do with!\n\nThe staff there is extremely friendly, and the van will take you anwhere up the the Canyon Road.

    All about the Skiing!

Snowbird is a great resort for those of you looking to ski till you drop! The terrain is challenging and you can even ski Alta on an interchangable ticket. Not a whole lot to do besides skiing though, the restaurants are good, but very little night life- unless you count the sports bar. But a great and challenging skiers mountain.
