Ski Big Sky
One thing’s for sure on a Big Sky ski trip, your legs are going to get tired, which makes the ski in ski out hot tubs that much sweeter. There's a lot of skiing to be had at Big Sky.
The resort hosts a 4,350 vertical drop of skiing from the impressive and 11,166-foot Lone Peak, which is accessed via its namesake, Lone Peak Tram. Beginners have their own private area without the interference of intermediate or expert skiers in the area between the Pony Express and Derringer lifts. Intermediate skiers have incredible access and can get the feel of Big Sky’s expert terrain via trails at the base saddle of Lone Peak. It takes only one look at Lone Peak to realize that this mountain is an expert or extreme skier’s sanctuary. With challenging terrain in nearly every direction from the peak’s summit, experts can enjoy one of North America’s longest vertical runs.

Cowboy Heaven at it's best!
We all had a hell of a good time in Big Sky! No broken bones and Corona free still. Hope everyone on your end is good too. The house was perfect for us. The flights went so smoothly as did the 2 SUV rentals. The weather was much warmer than last year. Ski conditions were perfect. The timing getting home was perfect too. Great uncrowded mountain with terrain for all abilities
Great terrain with few crowds. Fewer restaurants and bars than other large ski areas but that is changing quickly due to the resort's growth/expansion I've noticed from going the last 3 years. Relatively short drive from the airport and a car is not really needed if staying in the mountain village. On mountain food service is sparse and overwhelmed at peak times but all mountain representatives go out of their way to ensure a great mountain experience. Lifts are mostly updated and grooming is spot on. Worth a visit especially for the different skiing vibe that's ever present.

Very nice resort, easily accessible, plenty of skiing for all levels, good ski school, short lift lines, and good food

Great mountain, no nightlife
Big sky should be called huge sky. The mountain is massive and super fun. We had 11 guys from instructors and ski patrollers down to intermediate levels. Everyone had a blast. As for the town there was not much happening even on the weekend. A few cool bars and shops but mostly dead. Be sure to hit the lone peak brewery though. Be prepared for the parking at the mountain it’s not great. You have to take a trailer ride from the lot to base. However they are efficient.
Great Family Ski trip
This was our first trip to Big Sky and we will definitely be back. We loved our cabin, which was very spacious and well appointed with four bedrooms and four and one-half baths. The private hot tub has an incredible view of the mountain. Having the access to the Spanish Peaks club made everything extra special. Everyone was super nice and helpful there. Very nice to keep you skis and boots there and ski from there. Always nice to ski back and have a drink in bar with live music to unwind.
Great Skiing But Still A Ways to Go
We've been to Big Sky thee times in the last dozen years. The skiing is excellent, the people who work there are great, but in terms of being a truly world-class resort they have a ways to go. From lifts at more isolated areas of the resort that are late to start up in the AM (because the "lift operator did not show up that morning") to restaurants in the village that always seem to be out of something (even with their somewhat limited menus) the overall experience can be somewhat of a letdown at times. I am not a whiner, I am there TO SKI - and - have skied just about everywhere in the last 50 years - as a racer and recreational skier - but they charge top prices - they should provide top service. I will still go back because as I said - the skiing is great - but you are asking - so there you have one man's opinion :-)
Great Mountain, below average servcie
The resort has plenty of great skiing, but they seem to be growing too quickly & can not properly accommodate the guest that they have. Our room was not ready until 5:00 upon check-in & I think I rushed them by saying our skis were supposed to be delivered to the room @ 5:00, where should they go and they checked and said "oh, your room is ready." We could not get into any restaurants in the Mountain village even at 5:15 to 5:30 as everything was booked with reservations. Great Mountain, but definitely feeling growing pains!
